JC's Review of Atibal OPMOD XP8 Mirage 1-8x24mm Exclusive Rifle Scope w/ Rapid View Lever, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

I have the FFP version(non OPMOD) and it's pretty nice as well. I took a chance on this hoping for an equally pleasant experience and so far so good, even though I haven't been rough with either yet to see how they hold up. The glass clarity is surprisingly good for a Chinese scope. I get fantastic image quality throughout the zoom range out to about 500ish yds and eye relief is great too. The turrets are nice and tactile with audible clicks.

THE BAD>>> The pictures of this are a bit deceiving. The lettering on mine is not white, but is etched on the battery cap, so mine is completely tan/brown. However, mine matches the pictures in the sense that there are no numerical markings/reference points on the scope. So you have no indication of what illumination setting you're on or what magnification because they've been painted over for the OPMOD run. These are not complete deal breakers for me as I plan to either be at 1x OR 8x at any given point without using the in between. There is no off setting between the illumination settings which is a bummer, but the knob can go from off to max brightness in 1 click(goes backwards without having to go through each setting). There is noticeable fisheye on mine at close ranges(under 10 yrds) and it's not a true 1x, but both of these are to be expected at this price point and origin. OP had this on sale at under $250, and it's a great value at that. If I were to buy again, I would opt for the black version.

If I could make changes to the base design of this scope:
-I would like 1/4" MOA instead of .5" clicks
-The center diamond could be a little finer and be great.
-The illumination needs and off in between on any scope. I would rather have fewer numbers and still maintain the top and low end settings.

Good scope for the money at ~$250, but I would pass at the full asking of ~$400. That said, I would still pick this over the Vortex Strike Eagle ANY DAY
