Most Helpful Positive Review Yes! Finally.
Already own the original in black but now Optics Planet has the OPMOD! Need this in my life. This optic is a beast. Owned the XP8 for at least 4 years and has never failed me once after thousands upon thousands of rounds. Price is great, glass is decent and the reticle is fast. This optic is ama...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not usable
Decided to try it out following all the positive reviews - quite a disappointment. First, the fishbowl effect even on 1x makes it impossible to use the scope with both eyes open, it makes my head spin, so no CQB and no fast transitions. The focus on 1x seems to be only in the center of the view, sur...

Affordable

by D, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on January 17, 2025
Bought this for my 6.5 Grendel, holds zero, not particularly a fan of the diamond reticle but it's accurate.
Pros:
  • Accurate, affordable, reasonable quality
Cons:
  • Diamond reticle instead of horseshoe, does not come with rings
Best Used for:
  • Target and hunting

VERY not bad

by JC, from IA, United States Written on November 3, 2024
I have the FFP version(non OPMOD) and it's pretty nice as well. I took a chance on this hoping for an equally pleasant experience and so far so good, even though I haven't been rough with either yet to see how they hold up. The glass clarity is surprisingly good for a Chinese scope. I get fantastic image quality throughout the zoom range out to about 500ish yds and eye relief is great too. The turrets are nice and tactile with audible clicks.

THE BAD>>> The pictures of this are a bit deceiving. The lettering on mine is not white, but is etched on the battery cap, so mine is completely tan/brown. However, mine matches the pictures in the sense that there are no numerical markings/reference points on the scope. So you have no indication of what illumination setting you're on or what magnification because they've been painted over for the OPMOD run. These are not complete deal breakers for me as I plan to either be at 1x OR 8x at any given point without using the in between. There is no off setting between the illumination settings which is a bummer, but the knob can go from off to max brightness in 1 click(goes backwards without having to go through each setting). There is noticeable fisheye on mine at close ranges(under 10 yrds) and it's not a true 1x, but both of these are to be expected at this price point and origin. OP had this on sale at under $250, and it's a great value at that. If I were to buy again, I would opt for the black version.

If I could make changes to the ...

Best value for the 1-8X LPVOs

by markej4801, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on June 20, 2024
This is my 4th purchase of the Atibal Mirage. I own one other OPMOD and 2 of the black versions. All of these have been purchased while on sale and short of the really cheap units, this one is perfect. It punches well above its weight class! I've seen vids that decry the 1-10 units due to distortion at the highest power, but everyone seems happiest at this 8X power range. Ease of use for the Mirage is just right for me, sets to zero easily and holds that without issue. The diamond reticle around the 1/2MOA dot is especially comfortable for me.
The one complaint I have is specifically with the OPMOD version. When they painted the FDE color on it, they totally covered any and all indicators--1-8X power ring as well as the values of the illumination. Neither is critically important for me, but it does make it a bit disconcerting when hunting down your illumination level!!! As to the power ring, I typically go from 1X directly to 8X with that excellent post that is included, so not of critical importance in actual use.
All in all, this is a great unit for short-to-medium range optics. Watch for sales and pick it up as you are able. BTW, keep an eye out in DVOR as well, since those sales can be amazing!!!
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • Excellent value
Cons:
  • all numbers are painted over
Best Used for:
  • short to medium range engagement

Works great on my Mini-14

by Snap, from VA, United States Written on September 17, 2023
Sighted in easily and held zero on my SS Mini-14. I like the reticle which can be used without turning it on. I either lost the battery when opening or it didn’t come with one - make sure you have a CR2032 handy.
Pros:
  • Compact size and clear optics
Cons:
  • None

FDE to match

by Robert, from CO, United States Written on August 6, 2023
I was looking for an optic that would match the Magpul FDE cerakote that I have on my AR build and the color matches it 1 for 1. I've owned the XP8 both in FFP and SFP and have performed very well. Decent glass quality for the price but the durability is top notch and have not had a single issue with any of their optics over the years.
Pros:
  • Build quality
  • FDE coating
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • all gun related things

Don’t do it

by Reviewee, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on April 26, 2023
This scope has a ridiculous amount of fish eye. I’ve never experienced anything like it. On 1x when you look though the scope all I can notice if my front backup sight all distorted and mutilated of sorts. It’s hard for me to notice the reticle because my eyes automatically shift to look at all this weird stuff going on. This is by far my cheapest scope ranging from strike eagles all the way up to razor 1-10. I even hav an atibal 1-12 and it’s actually a decent optic but costs almost 4x more. I had high hopes for usability at this price point because even a 50$ red dot has purpose but it’s hard for me to give it any praise except the price. That being said the throw is decent except for a little squeak like it’s metal on metal casually rubbing together, the included lever is nice, the reticle is good and the brightness seems decent but the paint job is complete trash. Just easily sliding in my rings to get it leveled marring it. All in all if u want a cheap scope buy an sig or save a little more and buy a strike eagle or even a primary arms Slx. For 300$ you don’t want to feel like your looking through a fish bowl.
Pros:
  • Not many
Cons:
  • Lots
Best Used for:
  • Throwing away money

Great scopt

by Joe34714, from FL, United States Written on July 30, 2022
I choose this model to give the best results for my Ruger 10/22. I thought of prisms but want the use of lower magnification. The 8x setting really reaches out there. Very good quality of glass and durability. I was pleased with the discount price for desert tan color. Better than a red dot for me. Great eye relief and the quick throw lever comes in handy. I strongly recommend this scope.
Pros:
  • 250$
Cons:
  • Have not found one

  • Target and hunting
