I decided to take the plunge and a quick browse on OpticsPlanet proved to be seriously dangerous for my bank account.
Fortunately, I stumbled upon a deal in addition to being able to apply the Scope/Red Dot special promotion coupon. It was a no brainer at this point!
I was in search of a FDE color as well, double score.
I previously owned a Vortex Strike Eagle II 1-8x24 LPVO, it’s a good scope but the eye relief did not treat my astigmatism right at all.
The Eotech EXPS3 + G33 is the right setup for my eyes, visually and from a functional standpoint.
Installation was a breeze, make sure you push forward before locking in. Only adjust when you have unlocked the latch, never when it’s in the locked position to prevent damage.
I’m able to focus on the target with practically both eyes. The magnifier takes a little getting used to but it’s combination from glass to glass is great! I’m able to now justify this setup as it makes target acquisition more enjoyable. I’ll keep the Vortex for extra distance but it may not be mounted back unless there is another firearm makes it to this collection. Another advantage is I feel the Eotech is lighter than the Vortex I had with the 30mm mount.
I’ve read about poor battery, this isn’t a red dot it’s using laser to beam the MOA and ring. Just remember to power it off, else it will power off within 8 hours or 4 hours depending on which arrow you select. Carry additional Cr123 it’s not a that big of deal. If the military can depend on it ...
