After every shoot you should wipe down the outside of your gun and put a very light coating of gun oil on all blued surfaces. That will prevent any rust. It's also very important to clean the bore and the champber. This cleaning rod makes that step very quick and easy. One of the fastest ways to ruin a shotgun is to let rust form in the champber. This cleaning rod is the fastest and easiest way of keeping the chamber clean that I've ever found. I've been using one for 25 years and the chambers on my guns are shiny and rust free.
