Pachmayr has always made great recoil pads and their recent changes make them a little better than before. The ribbing in the decelerator pad gives just the right absorption of recoil, compared to solid pads. The rounding of the face gives a better fit on the shoulder. Radiusing the edges after grinding to fit makes it more comfortable. Lately, the updated molding process gives a more uniform look to the pad and to me, the finished product looks better.
