Reviews & Ratings for Pakistan Original Bowie Knife

I have had two of these knives. The handle is horrible until you reprofile it, and being a mild steel the blade is prone to rust and will need to be sharpened frequently with use, but these are it's only two drawbacks. I had my first one ten years before losing it, and my current blade has lasted 15 years. You CAN'T kill it. I've chopped wood as thick as my wrist, bent the edge on a rock in the process then bashed it straight and sharpened it on the same rock and then used it to prep dinner. I lost it in tall grass for six months and then dusted it off when found and kept going. I've pried screwed boards apart with it. It will cut through the sternum of a wild hog to dress it. It will cut barbed wire fence. The flat of the blade will drive tent stakes in clay soil without bending or warping. I've cracked limestone rocks with the spine. I once had to dig a fire pit in rocky ground -it did that, too. After all of this, the blade is still straight and free of cracks. It's never going to be pretty, lightweight or rust free, but unlike all those $200 fancy knives you will be able to confidently use it and abuse it and not care.
Pros:
Beyond tough
Cons:
Handle must be reshaped
Carbon steel requires care
Best Used for:
One-tool backpackers
Would recommend: Yes
