Robert W's Review of PARD Optics 1-4x35mm Thermal Imaging Rifle Scope w/LRF

So I have quite a bit of experience with Night Vision and Thermal as in owning several different units for shooting and spotting, and have 40 years of experience. I'm a big fanboy of Optics, as the only REAL major advance in the last 40 years has been optics. I have a Gen 1 Russian scope that was my first Night Vision and an old Redfield 2x long eye relief before the age of zero parallax holographic prism scopes. I "took a chance" considering there is little on the review side of this product online. Going just off of the specs and features I purchased this unit and let me tell you....I'm blown away. First and most important is resolution, I would say its more like a 400x300, even close to my older 640 scope. The 12um (pixel size) and 25 NETD (electronic noise) maximizes the sensor resolution. The refresh is totally silent and minimal and there must be an internal proprietary system of some sort that "clarifies" the resolution as well, for it is outstanding. Moving on to other features, this unit is very compact and lightweight, even to the point as mounting on a lever gun and not looking too bulky. It can easily double as just a handheld spotter and 5 different ammunition profiles in memory for bullet drop compensation. It has WIFI hookup for external viewing and a bunch of other electronic features too long to list. One of the most important factors is battery, as the 18650 is common and holds a better charge then 123a batteries, and there are adapters to use 123a in a pinch. I cant stress this enough that this little feature is huge. As I was zeroing and taking long shots (bullet drop compensator works excellent) I was not stressed at all with battery life. I don't like 123a rechargeable (never seem to last) and use Surefire 123s exclusively. With other scopes: every 4 hours of use.....another 10 bucks down the drain....not so with the PARD! Fit and finish is excellent (pictures don't do justice) and screws are used instead of press pins, even on the Objective cover. Its not perfect as the battery cover and side cover could be lost, as they screw out, however that's not that big of a deal to me. The instructions are a bit iffy, but they do have a support center in Reno and they do provide excellent support. This is a real deal scope and I'm looking to get the Night Vision version as another day/night unit. Lastly, Optics Planet is the BEST selection of products and industry leading customer support. In conclusion, this scope is worth every penny, you will not be disappointed !
