Most Helpful Positive Review 2 For 1 Optic
Bought this for use on one of my carbines. Was skeptical at first, laser and dot sight at this price point, but had to see for myself. This thing is nice. Dot is nice and sharp and comes with both red and green so just for that it is a bargain price when compared to other dot sights. Add in a gre...

Most Helpful Negative Review I love the sight but the one I received has a few issues
I mounted the Double Tap on my FPC. Yesterday at the range, while using the laser and red dot combined, each time I fired a round the laser would shut off and I would have to turn it on again for the next shot. When I switched to try the green dot option it would cycle back to red dot after each rou...

Buttons dont work

by Kendall, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on November 9, 2025
The laser works good and the dots are just ok. When I go to turn the unit off, I hold the button for 5 seconds or more and the unit does not turn off. I have to remove the battery to get the laser to turn off. Also, when I try to change the dots from green to red, or from red to green, again, the buttons do not change the color of the dot. The dots are a funny flat shape too. They are not round like all of my other dot scopes.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • The push buttons do not work properly. The dot shape is flat and blurry, not crisp and round

Great optic fit for my M&P FPC

by Sailor, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on September 5, 2024
Out of the box, the Double Tap was impressive. Very "tactical looking" and all of its controls are placed for intuitive operation.
The optic is easily mounted onto the top rail of my FPC, but here is where it lost one star from me. When folding the FPC, it soon became apparent that the oversized mounting knob wouldn't clear the top of the chamber area of the rifle, which led to me having to move the optic further forward on the rail. It's totally not a game changer as i do intend to mount a magnifier behind the Double Tap anyway. However, if i preferred to keep it mounted further back on the rail, I would have to remove it or move it every time i folded or unfloded the FPC. Not a very convenient thing to have to do. I am considering replacong the knob with a wingnut or other fastener that will allow the sight to clear the chamber top.
The optics are very nice and having the option of either red or green dot is a plus. The laser works well also. Today I will head to the range to sight it in and test everything out under fire. I am expecting to be pleasantly satisfied with the operation of the Patriot Optics Double Tap.

Purchased to use on my M&P FPC

by Sailor, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on September 2, 2024
The item comes very securely packaged, which was impressive. The optic is very nicely constructed and easy to operate. The mounting knob is a bit large and poses a mounting location issue where it interferes with the body of the FPC when folded if mounted too far back on the rail. I do intend to add a multiplier that should eliminate this issue. Also, making the knob so it could be switched to the other side would also correct the interference issue. Or one could add a smaller nut or wing nut to replace the knob. The flip up caps work well and hold the caps up and away from the optics securely. All in all, it's a great 1X optic that I am sure I'll enjoy for years on my FPC.

All bases covered

When I first came into the market for optics, I thought a red dot would be good. Then as a carpenter with a red laser, I have trouble seeing the red laser in daylight. I bought a new green laser for work and decided I need a green dot. Then I discovered this beauty. It is the best of all worlds, red & green dot with a green laser, what else could you ask for? I just received this optic and am still sighting it in but is easy to adjust. I am using it for a shotgun, and it is built to take the abuse. So far so good. I would recommend this optic for any application.

So far, so good.

I just bought this red dot laser scope for my AR15. It seems to be of good quality. Have not had a chance to sight it in yet.
Best Used for:
  • Close range. Within 50 yards, or so.

Ok for the price but minor changes needed

Got this for my AR-15 or AR-10, assuming that it would be used at less than 100 yd. Sighting in at 50 yards and only using on one AR-15, I can see the parallax was pretty bad. In order to be accurate your eye has to keep the dot in the center of the lens, I know the specs from the manufacturer show Parallax at 25 but at 50 you will be off Target by 4" or more if there is any off-center movement viewing through the lens. The dot adjustments do work well and hold. Laser adjustments also however laser is only good for 25 yds or less in daylight, but that was to be expected. The adjustment cover caps will affect the adjustment if they are put on too tight. They are not deep enough. It is a nice compact unit, replacing the mounting nut with an M5 stainless lock nut or wing nut saves a lot of space and weight. Battery is easy to install, make sure it is installed the right way though, it's opposite of what you might intuitively think. Red and Green Dot is easy to switch, intensities are easy to adjust, at night there is some dot glare within the optic but in daylight cannot be seen. Overall this is a nice unit, lens caps open easily and can be rotated in any position or removed easily. My only major complaint is with the Parallax issue which causes inaccuracy even at 50 yards. For Close Quarters I think this unit would be fine and will be what I use it for.
Pros:
  • Compact, easily adustable, decent mount, clear R/G dots
Cons:
  • Parallax beyond 25yds pretty bad, mounting nut way too big, caps for adjusters can affect setting if too tight
Best Used for:
  • Close quarters, under 50yds, laser at night or dark areas
