B's Review of Patriot Optics Prowess 1-10x30mm Rifle Scope

You probably should fold on this hand, because this scope is not a winner. I did some research on this scope and found it good that it is a veteran owned company. I thought I could trust it. It was said the scope was manufactured in the same factories as top tier scopes. I thought that was an attractive proposition. I also thought it attractive that the mount was included and the scope was illuminated. It also had a Christmas tree etched reticle. These are all features I am familiar with in scopes. When the scope arrived I opened the box to operate it. The first issue was the diopter. It was so stiff it would not turn. I wasn’t going to take a pliers to it either. Eventually, I got the diopter ring to turn. I found I could not even focus the reticle against the background. It was generally not as sharp as it could be. I also found that the slightest movement of the scope did not agree with the 30mm objective field focus. It blurred and I could see the inside of the scope. The biggest detriment to this scope design most definitely was the illumination. First, it didn’t even include a battery. When I got a battery, it was actually difficult to install. But then a problem happened that I had never seen in my life with a scope. I clicked the wheel to illuminate the reticle and was satisfied with what I saw. However, the illumination was so bright it was deafening. Then, I just slightly moved my eye and the whole entire objective field blurred red like I was looking through a glass of fruit punch. In any scope I had ever owned, I could move my eye anywhere in the eye box and that would never happen. I would never even know what that would look like because I never saw that in any scope in any shop I have ever been in? Would I trust my life with this scope? No. Was the scope made in China? It is possible. What should I say? I think I’ll just buy another Vortex!!!
