There's a reason you're looking at this lock. It's small, cheap, easy to lock and unlock, easy to change the code (securely, of course), and the TSA won't have to break out the bolt cutters and put you out without a lock for the rest of your trip. The loop is long enough to work on most baggage. The loop is fairly thin, so this won't protect against a determined thief with bolt cutters, but that's not what this lock is meant to guard against. As a defense against opportunistic thieves, this does the trick.

Yes the locks are TSA Approved and they are nice looking but thats were it stops. If your going to use on bags that you carry on board the plane there great and will last you a very long time. If you use them on your Luggage that you check in they will not last long. Bought a pair for travel overseas and the first time out they worked great going to Brazil and back to the States. Second trip arrived in Brazil and the case on one of the locks was split open and the funny thing is that according to the Pelican web sight these locks 1506TSA were made for the Pelican box I put them on.

I travel with Pelican cases 2-3 times a week. TSA has broken every other lock I have tried. These have held up for 2+ years. Just bought 10 more. Cable length is perfect for Pelican as well as my other luggage.
Pros: TSA Proof
Cons: None

This lock does not secure the Pelican case in a complete closed position; too much play if you have loose items in your case.
Pros: TSA compliant
Cons: It does not provide tight tolerances

I liked most things about this combination lock, except that the setup for your own code was hard to find (bottom right side in the photo above - and the side is not shown in the photo). You must press in an internal button while changing the combination. A little hard, but liveable. Otherwise it seems fine.
Pros: Gives me extra loop area I needed
Cons: setup is harder

I still recommend these locks, but I can say that with only two on the reinforced holes, it is possible to open the case enough to retrieve a pistol.
Pros: Lock does what it needs to, secures case, somewhat
Cons: Loops are long enough to open case and get small items out

Love these locks. But recently tried to purchase them again but pelican have redesigned them. Maybe it's better and have the same features. But I prefer the black color on the old design. Sorry, but bring back the black color! I had no choice but buy the current silver one.
Pros: looks sleek, strong and airport approved!
Cons: nothing

As this lock is TSA-approved, it is very good for luggage. However, it doesn't feel as rugged as usual Pelican products.
Pros: Combination Wheels Turn Well
Cons: Doesn't Seem Rugged
