This is my first Penn reel made in China. If I didn't see the "Made in China" sticker, I would have thought it was made in the USA. The fit and finish are up to Penn standards, and it feels smooth enough when cranked. I own Penn conventional reels from the 1970's, including some Senators, and this new one is just as nice as the old ones. I talked to a Penn technician by telephone, and he said that the parts are made in China, but assembeled here at the Penn factory. I gave it only 4 stars because I haven't taken it out on the ocean yet. It's filled with 50# spectra with a top shot of 30# mono.
