VERY handy, bright little light! +++++

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on September 11, 2008
I keep wondering why it took so long for someone to update the old 'moonbeam' I carried on all my youthful adventures. Maybe they were working out all the bugs. I couldn't find any, though I didn't subject it to a combat deployment. I did send it off to the 'Stan with my friend just the other day, along with one of my other lights, as the silly army E-5 "hadn't been issued one..." I even let him have the custom dummy cord I made for it out of coyote tan 550 cord, that being perhaps the only oversight of the manufacturer. I don't think any of the old models came with that, either, just a boot up your rump if you lost it, lol... At any rate, GREAT KIT! Bright as hell, well set up for use with common MOLLE gear, old ALICE gear, cammies, or whatever kit you run. Lanyard loop is well placed, much better than old model I think. Red filter is coke-bottle-thick to tame insanely bright LED bulb down to tactical level. Button requires stern pressing to lock light on, but momentary mode is most common use to grunts. The longer a light shines, the more fire, and the more ACCURATE fire, said light draws. Perhaps the only thing that bothers me is that I need to go online to order a replacement, as it is not commonly stocked in any store in my area!
Pros: angleneck flashlight for Ipod generation
Cons: so small you may loose it, no dummy cord included...

Big utility in a small package

by Legacy Reviewer, from PA, United States Written on March 30, 2008
I specifically bought the desert pentagonlight because it included the red screw-on lens. Attaching the red lens is quick and easy; providing adequate map-reading light at night. Also, the included clip great as you can leave it attached to your belt or molle vest for hands free lumination. Only issue so far is that the on/off button requires a firm push to keep the light on (as opposed to just on while you're pressing the button). Not a big issue, though, just takes some getting used to.
Pros: ultra compact
Cons: on/off button not very tactile
