This is a light weight, small, glasses friendly, monocular and with a wide field of view and a close focus. The optics are surprisingly sharp and bright. It fits in my shirt pocket.
The ergonomics are great, feels natural in my small hand. My wife’s hands are even smaller and she can easily hold it and focus with the top mounted rocker.
The rocker focus has no slop, operates smoothly with the perfect amount of resistance. It has a short throw, (range of motion), so it is pretty sensitive. Fortunately the depth of field is good so one does not have to be too precise. Easy one-handed use. I can operate it with gloves. Not recommended for people with large hands.
There is a second focus feature activated by the bezel around the objective lens. The bezel rotates from “Normal” (for distance focus) to “Near”. Set to “Near” and the focus range extends from about 5 feet to around 30 feet. Set to “Normal” focus range is from about 20 feet and beyond.
There is no eye cup – only a rubber ring. It works with either pair of my glasses. Without glasses it is not easy to hold it steady at the right distance from my eye. Not recommended if you don’t wear glasses.
The modest 6x magnification is good for not-so-steady hands and how I use it which is for backyard bird watching and walks in the forest. I can read a trail sign from 200 feet. It may not be strong enough to be optimal for the open fields and great distances.
