Most Helpful Positive Review Great Looking Handguard
This is a great handguard. The fit and finish are perfect. I dont know what the other review is talking about. yes, you do have to time the barrel nut but like he said, you have 35-80 foot pounds to work with. So I tightened it to that range, slid the handguard over it to see how the holes lined up ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Shims needed for barrel nut
The timing on this barrel nut is off. Shims are needed to be able to get the handguard screwed on correctly. This isn't done very well in my opinion. The handguard itself looks good though. I'm going to need to order shims now.

Just grab yourself a spikes tactical shim kit and your all set. And be sure to tork it all.

Shims not included

by JT, Verified Owner from CT, United States Written on March 22, 2025
Nice looking handguard but shims are not included.

For a beginner gunsmith you will find that this barrel nut will need shims. The handguard is secured with 6 small bolts that screw right into the handguard. Five starts if shims are included.

Not having a top rail on the handguard (15 inch) also more inconvenient then I realized. 4 stars
Pros:
  • Nice looking
Cons:
  • No shims
Best Used for:
  • STYLE

Great Free-Float Handgaurd

by BK, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on May 23, 2024
I was looking for an AR handguard for my first build. I wanted something a little different and scowered the internet looking for options. I found several that came in at or above $200, but didn't want to spend that much. This one had a relatively unique design and I especially liked the slant nose. As a bonus, the OD fit my hand perfect.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Finish
  • Design
  • Outer diameter
Cons:
  • Barrel nut timing could be a challenge

Nice, but order shims!

by gospyro, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on September 30, 2021
This is a nice looking rail. The fit* and finish and over all design looks great.

*While there are a good number of locatinos that align with the receiver, I was unable to do so without the addition of shims.

I would have given it 5 stars if it had come with a shims.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Needs to come with shims

Good luck finding one better

by MD, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on September 24, 2021
A true demonstration of pride in one's craft. Phase 5 has mastered their manufacturing techniques and this handguard has it on full display. The fit is precise with a solid mounting setup. The coating is meteor proof (don't try to hit it with a burning space rock). The m-lok dimensions are perfect. I am pleased to own this outstanding example of American quality.
Pros:
  • Lightweight, solid, looks great.
Cons:
  • No install tool. May rarely need a spacer to line up.
Best Used for:
  • Guarding hand

pretty cool except no barrel nut wrench

by MisterTuna, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on April 21, 2021
Pretty nice handguard for the price. Barrel nut wrench isn’t included so that was a little frustrating, and I couldn’t torque it, but it has to line up a feature with your gas tube anyways so it’s whatever, but it seemed to need pretty heavy torque to properly align, and no shims of any kind were included. This said, it’s a cool / nice handguard for the price and seems like it will function well on an AR pistol build. I would recommend making sure you have at least an 11” barrel if using any sort of compensator or brake that isn’t linear, as I am testing fate by having the first ports of the comp only about 1cm or less from the end of the rail. This said, it has the sloped nose, so only the upper part of the rail end comes within that distance to the ports of the brake.
Pros:
  • price, rails, aesthetics
Cons:
  • no barrel nut wrench provided

great rail, perfect for a 13.7" build

by cJ, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on March 29, 2021
This rail is a basically a combo of an Aero S-One and a SLR.

Super easy to install, came with everything needed. 6 screws and a barrel nut, even has a groove for the gas block so it can slide off even if you P&W.

Just buy it already!

phase 5 quality

by screw yall, from VA, United States Written on November 25, 2020
Phase 5 makes a very good product. The barrel nut indexed easily with the handguard and feels super solid. Too bad there don’t have more on hand right now. I really like the QD attachment point and the way the top portion is free of rail sections. Very easy on the hands and still has numerous mlock points

Works great!

by JT, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on November 17, 2020
If you know how to properly place/torque a barrel nut onto the upper receiver, it works perfectly fine. The barrel nut has multiple holes the screws can line into. It’s aesthetically pleasing, different compared to the regular “boxy” handguards.
Pros:
  • Aesthetically awesome
Cons:
  • None

Great handguard

by DAG, Verified Owner from ID, United States Written on November 11, 2020
Bought this to throw on my .50 Beowulf. Love the handguard. Lite, strong and very well made. I’ll be buying another one if not 3 or 4. You can’t beat the price for the quality of work. Love the look too.
