Broke on 3rd use.
One of the tabs on the body of the case snapped off the 3rd time I opened it. The other broke soon after. I have MTM cases that have survived for 30 years or more. I'll stick with MTM. Also, the case is really too big for even 45-70.

A little too big for .223
I like the construction of this box. It is solid for a plastic box. It has a hinged cover that folds back completely and and latches that lock well. The boxes stack nicely on top of each other because of the raised surface on top and recessed surface on the bottom.
(I know that it does not state it is rated for .223) But the holes for each 223 cartridge are a little too big. It works, but each cartridge is lazily leaning this way or that way.
I gave it four stars because I do not like that the bottom is not flat. The recessed channels that make the box stack easily, protrude into the flatness of the bottom. This makes the cartridges lean to the left and to the right.

Ammo case works well for local transport and lock
This little ammo case works well for local transport, like driving to a range or local hunting. It also has a little latch for a tiny lock if someone needed to keep little hands off of the contents. The latter consideration should not be necessary, though, since ammo should be in a larger locked container and away from child's access. Also, when travelling on an airplane, the ammo would need to be inside a more substantial locked container to meet most expectations of proper transport. Finally, the case needs some padding if it will be used for airline transport so that the cartridges do not rattle. The hinged lid looks like it would hold up longer than similar boxes that use creased plastic as the hinge, but I haven't had trouble with either. The translucent lid is a plus.
