Most Helpful Positive Review A must have for building or maintaining ARs
I bought two of these: 1 for the AR15 and 1 for the AR10/LR-308 platform. Both of these are very solid and work well with my vise in holding my AR uppers in place while I do maintenance on them. These rods are definitely nice to have especially when you have to torque or remove your barrel nut when...

Most Helpful Negative Review Bike 2nd time used
Not a solid rod. Tried to take a barrel nut off an AR. there is a mechanism inside the rod that raises a piece of metal meant as added security to keep the upper from spinning while working on it. Behind the star part that fits inside the barrel there is a pin. That pin is it's weak spot.

Design - ok, materials - ok, Quality Control? Nope.

Other reviewers mentioned it. This reaction rod is "clocked" - with the raised "fin" it does not fit into the star chamber. My first thought was that my barrel was clocked, but I've tried it in 4 different uppers, and it's the same everywhere. I got a replacement, and it was identical. Without raising the index fin it "works", but then it has limited use, not what I needed. If you are removing/adding a muzzle device or replacing barrels, you need the "fin" to stabilize, and prevent putting stress on the upper.

Meanwhile I have the 308 version of this, and it fits just fine.

great budget item

by PeterPan, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on April 22, 2025
Not every tool in the shed needs to be the most prium product and this is a fine subsitute to the oitragois prices that others ask.

Look, we all need these tools, but not everything wants to spend a barrels budget for one.

I threw this on a M4 build with a GI nut thqt ended up around the 55ft lbs mark to line the gas tube up with the upper receiver. This budget lug worked great.

I tested its clearance issue claiks on mtiple uppers. It lines up and fits everything. Im not sure what all the fuss is. With 55ft lbs.

Solid and works!

Spline fit was off a bit fitting into barrel lugs but a tap in cleaned up the problem(removed a bit of plating on a couple lugs). Fits tight and alinement is spot on. did not cost much and worked very well. With saving of $90.00, more gun parts.
Pros:
  • cost
Cons:
  • over plated

presma vise

by jaeson, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on January 16, 2025
cheap and worked perfectly. was able to remove and replace a muzzle device. I know it's not like the more expensive one's but for someone that only builds once in a while, this is perfect.

Theres a reason this is cheap. The lugs are too big for all the 556/223 barrels i own. Dont fall for it.
