Bugman's Review of Primary Arms SLx 3x32 Compact Prism Red Dot Sight

Got this mounted on my AK --Wow !! - the reticle is fantastic - in truth, I rarely shoot > 100 yds, so I don't really need most of the fancy stuff on the ACSS reticle but it is sure nice to have. Regardless of that, I think the glass quality is outstanding. The reticle with the donut of death and center chevron are super sharp and crisp, even with my astigmatism. My astigmatism of bad enough that I had to stop using my Eotech 512. But the Primary Arms Prism Scope is unaffected by astigmatism.

SUPER quality of the glass and reticle. I had no trouble in direct bright sunlight seeing the red illuminated reticle. Good heft and finish - feels like a solid quality product that would last 100 years.

Really like the crisp audible and tactile adjustment clicks at 1/4 MOA. Easy to hear even with my ear pro on.
Comes with a solid mount, I had no trouble keeping zero.

Also has a removable riser, but I like it sitting high, above my AK sights.
Love the flip-up lens covers - nice that they don't make you pay extra for them. They're also more solid, better than the popular aftermarket brand that I've usually bought for other optics.

Price a bit large, but if you go with some other really excellent products:
Vortex 3x magnifier + Sightmark Ultrashot M spec sight,
that total would be $400, so this optic saves you in that regard, at about $280 range.

Finally, if you're shooting 25-100 yds as I do, 3X is the right magnification for you. Past 100 yds, I think you'd want a 1-6x scope instead.

Primary Arms hit it out of the park with this.
May have to get one of these for my AR now...
Pros:
  • Glass clarity
  • Build
  • reticle appearance
  • adjustment clicks
Cons:
  • Price (But it's worth it)
