REALLY clear, even with astigmatism.

Written on Jan 16, 2022

Got this mounted on my AK --Wow !! - the reticle is fantastic - in truth, I rarely shoot > 100 yds, so I don't really need most of the fancy stuff on the ACSS reticle but it is sure nice to have. Regardless of that, I think the glass quality is outstanding. The reticle with the donut of death and center chevron are super sharp and crisp, even with my astigmatism. My astigmatism of bad enough that I had to stop using my Eotech 512. But the Primary Arms Prism Scope is unaffected by astigmatism.

SUPER quality of the glass and reticle. I had no trouble in direct bright sunlight seeing the red illuminated reticle. Good heft and finish - feels like a solid quality product that would last 100 years.

Really like the crisp audible and tactile adjustment clicks at 1/4 MOA. Easy to hear even with my ear pro on.
Comes with a solid mount, I had no trouble keeping zero.

Also has a removable riser, but I like it sitting high, above my AK sights.
Love the flip-up lens covers - nice that they don't make you pay extra for them. They're also more solid, better than the popular aftermarket brand that I've usually bought for other optics.

Price a bit large, but if you go with some other really excellent products:
Vortex 3x magnifier + Sightmark Ultrashot M spec sight,
that total would be $400, so this optic saves you in that regard, at about $280 range.

Finally, if you're shooting 25-100 yds as I do, 3X is the right magnification for you. Past 100 yds, I think you'd want a 1-6x

Nice contruction, Good for streamlight G2L LE. Mixed standard / metric hardware?!

Written on Feb 11, 2021

A very nicely made, all aluminum mount, set up instantly on my Ruger AR-15 Mlok rail. Looks are pefect, nicely finished in black and very sturdy. Have not range tested it yet. The rings are really nice, fit the Streamlight G2X LE (or any other 1" diameter light) perfectly.

But very strange hardware included.

for the ring that surrounds the light, you need a 3mm hex wrench (included), which is pretty standard for most AR15 accessories. then it gets weird:

They sent two sets of hex screws for use with the Mlok fasteners
--a shorter set, adequate for my rail (socket head cap screws) require a 9/64" wrench (included)
--a longer set I suppose for people with a thicker rail - buttonhead hex bolts, which require a 1/8" hex wrench (NOT included).

A shame they didn't just use 3 mm hardware, the usual standard, for everything - sure would save a lot of hassle when you're in the field so you don't have to carry around all these different hex wrenches. Everything else on my two ARs uses 3 mm hex heads. Who carries SAE wrenches in their bag? I don't think it's a good design idea to mix SAE and metric hardware on any device.

FANTASTIC with Astigmatism

Written on Dec 24, 2020

I have astigmatism, wear prescription contact lenses, or eyeglasses, to correct it. But despite this, my Eotech 512 is really not usable for precision shooting even at 50 yards - the 1 MOA center dot does not look like a dot, but looks like a flame. 2 years ago bought the Sightmark SM26010 FMS M-spec red dot - the predecessor to this model, and it was PERFECT - totally crisp and clear for the center dot and the donut of death around it. Very happy with it.

Now the Sightmark SM26035 FMS M-spec comes out at a great price on opticsplanet. I have another rifle so I got one of these and likewise could not be happier. Here are some GREAT features

2 MOA center dot, 65 MOA circle around it
auto-shutoff cycle of 12 hrs.
HAS AUTO-ON feature - turns on when you pick up the gun,
if auto-on activated, then it will shut off after 5 minutes if no movement at all. PERFECT
auto-on is an absolute must, if you use for home defense as I do.

And this new one has a nice retractable lens hood which I really like , if shooting into the sun.

Watch the prices - standard is about $240, so if you can catch this for around $200 or less, it is a steal.

works for SW 9 mm shield - don't buy the 9mm version

Written on Oct 10, 2018

.380 version works in the 9mm shield. Don't buy the 9mm version - it won't fit.
I've had this for 1 year now, works great, unlike the laserlyte product which lasted about 2 weeks. the only problem is when the O-rings eventually wear out - but you can replace them by going to the local ACE hardware store and finding any small o-rings. I think the one's I got to replace these were 5/16" internal diameter X 1/16 thickness, or something close to that. The o-rings will wear out eventually due to wear and tear.

But this is the best thing you can do for yourself at home - will improve your shooting overnight. In fact even better than practicing at the range, in order to develop trigger control.
