JS's Review of Primary Arms SLx 4-14x44mm Rifle Scopes, 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)
For the price, I really don't think that it can be beat. I was looking for an FFP scope with at least 10x magnification for <$350 and from what I can tell, this is the only option that fit that criteria. I use it on an 18" SPR build that I shoot from 100-600yds and may soon swap it back and forth onto a Bergara HMR in .308. The reticle is awesome and I don't have to turn dials at all to get out to 500yds and beyond. I don't have a ton of experience with other glass but I have shot some Vortex offerings and a Nightforce, and to my untrained eye I can't see the four-figure price discrepancy in the clarity of the glass.
The only downside I have found is that the turrets aren't quite as nice as more expensive scopes. Most of the time the adjustments are pretty tactile but probably about every fifth click gets mushy and sometimes I can't tell if it has made that one click or not. However, for this price, it's not a big deal at all. Also I can't necessarily speak to the durability because I'm really careful with it so I don't know if it's any more fragile than other scopes.
Again, I think overall, for the money and the glass you get for it-- it's in a class of it's own.
Side note, I bought this scope directly from Primary Arms with their 30mm "Deluxe AR15 Scope Mount" and I would strongly advise buying a better mount. It came loose after <1k rounds of .223 even with enough blue Loctite applied. I went to retighten it and nearly destroyed the nuts because of how soft the metal was. I'll probably buy a Midwest Ind. QD mount when I can afford it.
