FranzJosef's Review of Primary Arms Classic Gen II Removable Microdot Red Dot Sight

For the price, this optic is hard to beat. Dot has 11 different brightness settings for day, night, or whatever your situation. Glass is very clear, even with a magnifier the dot shows up sharply and not blurry at all. With many of the optics in this price range, the low quality glass becomes evident when you use a magnifier and the dot becomes blurry and splayed all over the place to the point that it is unusable, surprisingly not an issue here. Seems to hold zero well and battery life is acceptable so far, we'll see how it performs as time goes on.

Comes with a low profile picatinny mount that may have some uses but leaves it a little low for use on an AR15 as I had intended, thus a riser or different mount is necessitated. This ultimately is why I gave it four stars instead of five, that being that the best mount for cowitness that I have found for it is their own higher base for it. Though it provides good cowitness height and works well, that it appears to be a proprietary design is bothersome to me. Myself I would prefer a simple fixed picatinny base and a riser with rain on the top rather than the rather cumbersome process of swapping bases involving the removal of four small screws. Perhaps just a matter of preference but there it is. Ultimately though, if you are looking for a reasonably priced red dot that is durable enough, has clear enough glass to use a magnifier, and don't want to blow $500+ on an Aimpoint or the like; this is highly recommended.
