JJfaz's Review of Primary Arms SLx 1-8x24mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)
I saw and watched all the reviews saying the ret washes out and is maroon not red in bright day light on 1x. The first day I got it I mounted it on an AR walked outside, bright sunny day and the ret was bright red. Maybe they changed something..IDK Is the ret small on 1x...well yes and no. If you are used to a 2moa dot like an Aimpoint, no its not. If you are used to a EOTech 65moa circle yes its small. I had a well known FBI Instructor explain to me, a LPVO is NOT a RDS..why use it that way? Stay off 1x and keep it at 2X for close work 100 yards and under, spin out the magnification as needed. Keep both eyes open for close work and the ret at 1.5-2x will provide just enough detail in your treat and keep you focused without tunnel vision. Get used to working with it at 4 or 5 power for longer ranges 100-300yds, go to 6, 7 and 8 only when needed for extreme range 300-600. Dont use 8 as a be all end all setting because its not. You get too much tunnel vision at 8x. Trying to track a moving target(s) at 8 x 100yd range is hard and you start missing opportunities because you cant see the big picture. The ACSS Aurora is used by Trijicon on their 4x for a reason. The circle / tree ACSS Raptor design has been used for years by many manufacturer and is well known as an awesome mid-range ret for FFP. Old eyes need FFP and a di-opter... this is an awesome scope if you hate wearing your glasses and using your rifle.
The next thing that is awesome is the 3 mounting locations for a custom cat tail. They provide a small "nub" but you can go to any 3d print shop or even metal-smith and have a longer one made.
Pros:
light weight
FFP
ACSS
LPVO
mounting holes for a cat-tail
Cons:
cheap caps
Best Used for:
Hunting, competition, self defense
