Multiple issues

So I bought two of these in steel and two in Nickel-plated to test out after-market magazines for my P238. The item as delivered was slightly different than the picture, as the follower is actually not curved up in the middle, but down in the middle like a channel to "cup" the bullet from the bottom rather than push it up.

Experience with the magazines (all of them) had multiple problems. First, they failed to insert cleanly, frequently sticking about the half-way point, and requiring a "second" push to seat them. Next, they failed to feed correctly. I experienced multiple class 3 malfunctions, particularly with flat-nosed bullets (Winchester) that would catch dead flat on the bottom of the feed ramp and require a lock slide and strip magazine to clear. The flat-nose ammunition fed fine in the stock Sig magazines. Changing to round-nose (Blazer) improved the feed problems, but still had situations where the bullet would fail to feed out of the magazine, and the slide then would not completely close into battery. None of these magazines would hold the slide open on empty, resulting in the situation where you think there's a round in the chamber only to experience a dead click attempting to fire.

Would not recommend these, even for range use...
Pros:
  • Cheap
Cons:
  • Mechanical problems
Best Used for:
  • paper weights

Holds Rounds. Doesn't like giving them up.

Right out of the packaging this magazine didn't want to release rounds through normal cycling or firing. I have not tried to modify it yet to make it work. I will at some point. The Sig magazine works just fine. Perhaps I received a bad unit but I have not owned one of this brand before so can't speak to that.
Pros:
  • fits
Cons:
  • Feeding Problem
