review for Archangel Pistol Grip Adj Stock Ruger PCC 9MM Carbine

after reading mixed reviews of the pro mag archangel pc carbine stock from other reviews on other online gun stores who stocks it i decided to take a chance knowing there will be some setbacks on the promag stock that can be fixed. bought the pro mag stock in sept 2024 to be attached to a ruger pc carbine california compliant #19102 rifle. instructions are kind of vague. doesn’t say how the mag release works. turns out the bar above the trigger on the stock slides forward on both sides to release the magazine. the mag release spring on the stock was thicker than the thinner springs mentioned on other reviews which caused the mag to fall out when firing. this time the thicker spring made it hard to slide the bar to release the mag. i used a glock firing pin spring 5.5lbs cut it to size with the one supplied with the stock and use that instead. mag stays in place in the well and slider bar easier to release the mag. now the fun part getting the upper receiver into the pro mag lower stock. yes, it is snug. i coated the inside of the stock and the upper receiver with synthetic motor oil and was able to join the two part together without a mallet. you just gotta open up the front end of the stock outward and use even pressure just a little so the frontend of the upper receiver will seat into the front of the stock. use oem glock mags and the carrier bolt will clear it fully seated. for some reason magpul glock mags doesn’t work. If you’re using magpul glock mags you have to insert...

Purchased this a few weeks ago to change up my PC carbine. It’s easy to install, it looks good and seems pretty durable for being polymer, I did need to tap the receiver down a little to get it snug but that’s a good thing. There are two major issues that would prevent me from recommending this product. The first is the bolt catch has an issue actually preventing it from allowing me to close the bolt, for some reason when it’s installed it allows the mags to over insert somehow. I’m not an engineer but I cannot figure out how this is possible, it happens with all my mags Glock/magpul/CTI and my Promag drum. As you can see that I tried 4 manufacturers so i ruled out mag issues. The other issue is with the mag release, when the bolt catch is installed the mags drop free, when it’s removed the mags bind. So for the convenience of having a pistol grip and adjusting stock I have to give up LRBO and pull my mags. Not good in my opinion.
Pros:
  • Adjustable stock
Cons:
  • Loose basic functions
Best Used for:
  • wasting money
