Jim's Review of ProMag PM277 Marlin 795/60 Tactical Folding Stock Polymer Black

I really like the overall design of this stock. The biggest drawback that I see with it is that is contains no instructions at all. Even if they didn't include a printed instruction sheet/book, they could provide a link to written and/or video instructions online. That would be a super-easy fix that would do wonders. The second issue is that I think it would be a really nice touch if they glued in a threaded barrel nut for the front screw on the trigger assembly. That would be an inexpensive touch that would make reassembly so much easier. As it stands, you have to take the one from your original stock and get it to stay in place while you reassemble, which requires the use of glue or tape. From a design standpoint, I feel like the butt plate sits a little high, so positioning it to aim/fire the weapon is a little awkward. It would be nice if the butt plate would slide up and down (vertically) to help customize the fit. Making the length of the stock adjustable would be nice, but would probably be asking a bit much for the price. All-in-all, I give it 4 stars.
Pros:
  • good value
  • sturdy design
  • Rails give lots of mounting options
Cons:
  • No instructions
  • no barrel nut for front screw of trigger assembly
