I really like the folding stock. The rifle shoulders and feels must better now. My marlin 795 had a front reciever lug pin that was sticking out 1/16th of an inch preventing it from installing in new stock so i ground it down and now it dits perfect.

There are no directions at all. The hardware was packaged wrong. The folding stock has a good amount of play in it when it is in normal shooting position, I'll wonder up putting some sort of padding in to lock it still. Look and feel isn't bad, but overall I would've got something else if I knew before hand.

The PM277 stock is a solid product to transform a vintage Marlin 60 22 rifle. The stock is an easy swap. Remove the action and guard, 3 screws. Glue the old threaded insert in the front trigger guard hole of the new stock. Snap the new stock onto the action, add the filler plate, trigger guard and insert the three screws. Add the guard filler piece with included screw and done. There are no instructions with the new stock but it is three screws off and back on with a filler plate and grip filler. A small Phillips screwdriver is needed for the grip filler and slot screwdrivers for the other screws. The sturdy folding stock is similar weight to the old wood stock. The swap took about 10 minutes, plus time to clean and lube the action while apart. The ProMag 277 is exact fit for a Marlin 60.
Pros:
- Direct fit, easy upgrade, looks very current
Cons:
- The fun of the build is over quickly

The stock fit fine on my marlin 60. I wish they would have done a simple instruction manual but it was not that hard to figure out

I really like the overall design of this stock. The biggest drawback that I see with it is that is contains no instructions at all. Even if they didn't include a printed instruction sheet/book, they could provide a link to written and/or video instructions online. That would be a super-easy fix that would do wonders. The second issue is that I think it would be a really nice touch if they glued in a threaded barrel nut for the front screw on the trigger assembly. That would be an inexpensive touch that would make reassembly so much easier. As it stands, you have to take the one from your original stock and get it to stay in place while you reassemble, which requires the use of glue or tape. From a design standpoint, I feel like the butt plate sits a little high, so positioning it to aim/fire the weapon is a little awkward. It would be nice if the butt plate would slide up and down (vertically) to help customize the fit. Making the length of the stock adjustable would be nice, but would probably be asking a bit much for the price. All-in-all, I give it 4 stars.
Pros:
- good value
- sturdy design
- Rails give lots of mounting options
Cons:
- No instructions
- no barrel nut for front screw of trigger assembly

For those of you who under the impression that this requires modification to install… it does not. There is an order in which you have to assemble but you can figure it out without much trial and error. Instructions would be great but there are none. Took me about 20 minutes with a Phillips and flat head screwdriver, you don’t need to remove the folding stock so no allen wrench. The function is great, lightens the package, fits in a medium sized backpack and the cheek fits better on the stock than the original with iron or scoped sights. Build in sling attachment and three rails up front to add all your accessories if that’s your preference. Balance is nice, just a little front heavy especially if you add bipod, flashlight etc… and in the folded position is a blast to mag dump. Made a great little bug out gun.

Purchased for a marlin model 70 papoose which it is not advertised to fit that model however with a bit of dremel work to accommodate the removable barrel…fits nicely and looks good. Also needed to shim a couple areas but overall a nice cheap composite stock.

Best bang for the buck. No instructions but thats because common sense is all thats needed. For the 795 Remove grip with allen wrench and it drops right in. Put in the gap filler on end of foregrip before installing barrel. Replace screws. Add gap filler behind trigger. The screw is in bag for model 60. Takes 5 min. Attached sling through slot in stock and slot on picatanny and its light folds up and shoulders nice.
