Russell Jacks's Review of Pulsar Locking QD mount for Pulsar Apex, Trail, Digisight, Talion, and Core Rifle Scopes

I have had this mount for almost two years. I have been using it on a Pulsar Trail XQ38. I really didn't like the mount from the start but it was all that was available when I purchased it.

The Good: You can quickly detach and reattach your scope. This is a plus if you use your scope for scanning. I scan with it off the gun and then reattach it once I locate pigs. The mount holds "minute of pig" accuracy out to 50 yards.

The Bad: The mount has a single mounting point. On the QD leaver side, there is only about 3/4" of mount that tightens against the rail. It is basically the equivalent of buying a $5K scope and then mounting it with just one scope ring. Elevation has been fine but windage shift is as much as 8" at 100 yards. This is alter zeroing, removing and putting right back on (same day, same weather conditions, same distance, etc.). Once its clamped on, it holds zero fine but 3 shot groups shot consecutively after detaching and reattaching confirm that it windage shifts all over the place. Switching between guns requires readjusting the QD tension if the rails aren't exactly the same width. Last, after many times on and off, the clamp bar on the QD side of mine is bowed so that it really only has firm contact directly under the QD leaver.

After completely missing several animals and confirming my zero shift suspicions, I am ditching this mount and have ordered the Borbro. It is twice as much money but appears to fix all of the above shortcomings.
