Ron Cattera's Review of OpticsPlanet Exclusive Pulsar Thermion XQ38 Thermal Rifle Scope
The unit is made well. The battery and housing was well thought out. The button lay out and the menu is very easy to navigate. The strap and the magnetic lens cap is genious. The unit itself is junk. It is awful and a total waste of money for identification period unless your under 75 yards. Even at 75 yards if its a deer you will be able to identify but if its a rabbit or a ground hog or a raccoon or a turkey good luck. It is a blurry blob with no definition on outer lines. The refresh rate is very slow and it occurs very often. I will say that I am testing in a cold and humid environment. Coyote hunting in the North East. In cold, slight fog or snow on ground conditions it is usless. Unless your hunting light blobs! If you use the picture in picture the mag is 7x in the picture and at that power everything is a blur at even 50 yards. The battery life is less then 3 hours if you are actually using it. The Pulsar sight says 6 hour battery life in first few sentences then as you scroll down under specifications it says 5 hr life! In reality 3 hours. I cant say the quality is bad in perfect conditions because we dont have perfect conditions in Michigan. My buddies and I all agree on the poor quality that this monocular has. I will go back to wearing my ATN THOR 4 as a necklace to scan.
