Matthew Gurule's Review of Radian Weapons Enhanced Black Nitride Bolt Carrier Group (BCG)
I have the Lantac Enhanced BCG for the AR-15 platform that also has the enlarged rear boss for a better snug fit in the uppers raceway and more consistent alignment in buffer tube and also when bolt locks back into battery. I haven't measured its boss nor the Radian Weapons E-BCG's boss, but they look to be the same dimension or very close(within .010"-.015" of each other) and basically seems the same as the Lantac model but may not have the redesigned forward facing gas vents/ports instead of just regular outward facing ports. That's not a big deal though. It maybe to guys only running supposed rifles & pistol AR's, but would think they'd be using a Gemtech, Rubber City Armory or similar adjustable & non-adjustable BCG that are designed for suppressed use. Still the quality of the machining & coating process is as good and on par with Lantacs, CMC's, San Tan Tactical, and the other tier 1 guys. They also precision grind the bolt and BCG with a surface grinder for very precise & slick as a baby's butt surface b4 even coating it! I've ran it in all my ARs from a 10.5" long 5.56 barrel pistol AR, my 16" AR's, too my longer barrel 18" 6.8SPCII & 26" 224 Valkyrie ARs but with a 6.8SPCII bolt swapped in for the last 2. It ran flawlessly in all 4 AR's with at least 60 rounds in each, but with the 2 5.56 uppers I ran 150-200 rounds in each with only oiling it and wiping it off when switching to different upper. It was on sale for $120-$125 & includes bolt and the Lantac was $300 & the other guys with same or similar design are $150-$250. For that price I can live without redesigned ports(which it may have anyway) and get 1-2 extras lol.
Pros:
- Very good quality, good price, comes with bolt, and special surface finish
Cons:
- Not any I've found so far
Best Used for:
- Competition, self defense, battle rifle, recreational, and anything else
Would Recommend:
Yes
