Glacierwolf's Review of RCBS Chargemaster Supreme Electronic Powder Dispenser

I started reloading in 1978 and been heavily involved in NRA high-power rifle + Centerfire Pistol competition and Alaskan hunting. I had the model 1500 Chargemaster from when it first came out and it finally wore out. Two biggest differences between the Supreme and 1500 you notice is speed and noise. Where the 1500 was noisy the new Supreme is nearly silent. Supreme is faster than the 1500 right out of the box without using the 'learn' mode that will make it faster. (last night I made 60 test loads in batches of 5. Lots of different charge weights. Should have taken me close to 2 hours. I was done in little over an hour.) The touch screen is sensitive and does not require any pressing down. The manual could have been organized and written better..... I think RCBS made the 'Warning Beep' obnoxiously loud to force new owners to dive into the manual as a learning exercise. Learning how to shut the beep off - teaches you how to navigate the menu. It has a built-in level 'eye'. I am guessing having it level makes things easier on the motor. Where the 1500 was two separate units this is all one sealed unit. In theory this should make it more reliable in the long run - no connector between the scale and measure to develop dirty contacts.
I took the calibration weights from my old 1500 and compared them to the two new ones - both sets are physically identical and identical out to two decimal places on a different scale.... so no worries your old 1500 pet loads coming out different with a new scale. I am so happy I did not waste $$ to repair the 1500....this Charge Master is both a worthy replacement and awesome upgrade. You will not be disappointed.

  • Faster than previous models
