Andy's Review of RMA Armament Level IV Single-Curve Ballistic Rifle Plate, 10x12in
The above review is incorrect. I do not know why this person wrote this review this way, but they are clearly referring to the 1192 plate which had ceramic tiles and was a 10 X 12 plate with an 8 X 10 tiled ceramic strike face. This is the 1155 which uses a full monolithic slap of ceramic as its strike face and covers the full 10 X 12 area. You can check BuffmanRange videos on YouTube where he tests this exact plate rigorously and then cuts it apart afterward to show it is edge to edge and examine the internals. Another indication you were writing about the wrong plate is that this plate is NIJ 01.01.06 certified and it's printed on the back label on every plate IF that plate is model number 1155, the 1192 was NOT NIJ certified, again leading me to believe you were writing about the wrong plate. I too own this plate, it is a rather hefty 8.1 pounds, but it is 100% edge to edge and if you check out the videos on YouTube (BuffmanRange, IraqVet8888, etc...) there are a number of independent testers, and they show clearly it can stand up to multiple hits and definitely qualifies as level IV protection. It is not the best plate out there, but it is a very, very good plate for the money. Not light weight, not made of boron carbide (Hardest ceramic there is as opposed to silicon carbide or other lesser ceramics), but a quality product fully compliant to stop AP Rifle threats.
Pros:
- Edge to Edge, multi hit, AP rated, NIJ 01.01.06 cert. Price is affordable.
Cons:
- Heavy, thick plate.
