I’ve been in the business for 25 years. Safariland has always been my “go to” for duty gear. Nothing lasts as long. Classic leather is great, and there’s nothing quite like it, but I’m a stickler for the looks of my duty gear and uniform, and Safariland has always been at the top of the class for durability. I like the STX hardshell type much better in their current production. I think Safariland made an error when they changed their older Safarilaminate to a newer, softer design, as it is much more prone to scuffing and wear, so instead I nearly always choose the STX option, as it holds up so much better to seatbelt wear, and the bumps and scrapes on the job.
