I own 4 Safariland holsters all for one gun, call me crazy but it is due to the fact that my 1911 has a light on the bottom that I take on/off, so I have two versions of the tactical thigh holster and two versions of this waist/belt holster with and without flashlight. In general the SLS is a great security retention system for the 1911, more so than almost any other gun, because it sits between the hammer and the gun, not only holding it incredibly tight/securely but adding another piece of accidental discharge protection--something you can never have too much of when you are carrying cocked/locked with a .45ACP pointing right at your feet, arteries or other vital/non-vital body parts. The quality on this puppy is very high quality and if you order the right model, it will fit your gun like nothing else--since it is leather, it will fit even better than the polymer/kydex ones built for a specific gun, plus it is more forgiving as well. It looks fantastic. My only real gripe is two fold: 1. sometimes this slips down off my waist but that isn't as much the holster as it is my fat belly, belt & weight of gun. 2. most annoying is the SLS system. unless you practice this every day (obviously I'm being over the top) you can't manage to make it work. personally id prefer to go with the other security system they have called the ALS or something like that but they didn't offer it for my particular model. it is easier to get the gun out with that system IMO than this; however, that system does not offer the strap between the hammer & gun which is a nice feature--but at the same time part of the problem.
Pros: Great looking, high quality, fits your exact model
Cons: SLS can be tricky, pricey
