Most Helpful Positive Review Sako Optilock rings
Whether the rings are Sako rings or another brand, I try to only use plastic lined rings. You can spend $300 to $3,000 on a new scope why not avoid ring marks. Sako rings are a little more expensive, but remember you just spent big bucks on a Sako rifle.
Most Helpful Negative Review Ring to base screw mia
These rings need a special ring to base screw that does not come with base and does not come with the rings typical optilock pia. Very frustrated with whole dovetail system and complete lack of USA support. Where in the heck do you find a shorter ring to base screw?I

Sent the wrong cap screws for the Extra Low Rings

by Kevin, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 13, 2024
You’re not going to believe this, but the Sako factory sent the wrong M5 Ring Mounting Screws with my Extra Low Sako OptiLock Rings. The directions specifically state that the “XTRA LO Ring is to be mounted only with the supplied shorter screws” but the screws they sent are way too long. The screws they included in my package impede well into the path of the rifle scope. Just to make sure, I removed a set of medium high Sako Optiock rings from another rifle and the M5 Ring Mounting Screws on the Medium and Extra Low Optilock rings are the exact same length. Contacted customer service and they said they would contact the manufacturer. That was a week ago and I still haven’t heard anything.

Critical Care Paramedic

by Charlie, from OR, United States Written on November 15, 2018
When using standard Leupold rings for my Sako, I always had to lap them to improve accuracy. With the Sako Optilock style, that issue was resolved instantly. the plastic insert used in the Optilock system is quite ingenious to be able to align the scope to make it truly centered without damaging the scope.

Sao Optilock Rings

by NK, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 29, 2018
These are pretty solid rings. The poly ring insert snugs up and protects the scope tube. They probably help with minor alignment of the scope. You must buy the bases separately. They are a bit of a pain to align rings with the bases. If I needed to mount a scope again, I would get a pic rail and rings instead. Can't complain about the solid lock up on the scope shooting a 300 Win Mag. I purchased 30mm Med rings. Handles a 50mm objective easily and would probably accommodate a 56mm objective.
Pros:
  • Solid well built
Cons:
  • requirers exact setup on base
Best Used for:
  • Sao, Tikka T3/x

Easy installation

by Mtnlover, from CO, United States Written on June 21, 2018
Bought 30mm rings for new scope, replacing 1" scope on old Optilock base. Just swapped out the rings w/lower rings for the 30mm tube, installed perfectly on existing base. Necessary hardware for the lower rings included in the package.

Not packaged with the necessary screws

by cross, from ID, United States Written on August 16, 2017
I purchased these Tikka Xtra LO rings for considerably more money than I normally pay for them because the bases they attach to are built by Sako/Tikka to take advantage of the design features incorporated into the rifle. The rings and bases appear to be strong, relatively sleek, and well made. I received them after only a few days from Optics Planet and was satisfied with their service. When I attempted to assemble the rings and bases, I discovered that the rings had been packaged with screws that were too long to properly attach them to the bases (the screws actually stuck up through the bottom of the rings by and 1/8th of an inch or so). I've spent many hours trying to get the right screws from Beretta USA or through Optics Planet and finally received a call bout 10 days ago from a representative at BerettaUSA who was able to look at the photos I had emailed and understood my problem. Within 1/2 hour of the conversation with him, I received an email confirming a pending delivery from BerettaUSA so I'm happy about that but I've yet to receive the screws to confirm that they're the right ones. Hopefully the screws will be the right ones and I can get on with things but this issue has taken far too much effort to resolve.
Pros:
  • Appear to be well made
Cons:
  • Packaging and customer service are poor

Sako Optilock Rings

by Bawana, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on December 21, 2016
I have been using Sako factory Optilock rings and bases for many years with no disappointments. They are rock solid, dead on center, and look great on my rifles. Don't buy the cheaper Leupold or Talley mounts. These are the best
Pros:
  • Built exclusively for your Sako rifle
  • Custom look
Cons:
  • None

Its Sako, so...

by GoWyo, from WY, United States Written on December 2, 2016
...I expected better. OP got my order sent out quickly, however Sako/Berreta packaged the incorrect base mounting screws (too long) for these super low rings. I left a message with OP customer service, but when I didnt get a response i just filed them down. Not a big deal, but one half of one ring has turned plum. Odd that they all haven't. NOS?

Solid rings

by Rod, from NE, United States Written on August 2, 2016
High quality rings. Not the easiest to install but very pleased with the final results. The plastic inserts are nice because they keep from crushing the scope tube. The inserts also result in very minor movement when tightening the ring screws. They provide a very secure installation. I'm confident the scope will not move no matter what abuse it may experience. I am very pleased with the quality of these rings.

Beautiful rings

by SteveR, from IL, United States Written on April 20, 2016
I'm VERY impressed with the quality of the Sako Optiloc rings. Thry are very well machined and finished - clearly head and shoulders above the Warne, Weaver, Leupold and Burris rings that I have on other rifles. They are pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for, and then some.
