Fits full size M&P better than compact, but works for both
Purchased this extension to get a 15 round mag for my gen 1 9c, which comes from the factory with 12 round mags. I also have a 9c 2.0 with 15 round mags that work in the gen 1 9c, but the grip is not very ergonomic in this configuration and the overall length of the 15 rounder is almost a quarter inch longer than a 12 round mag with this extension ( or the +3 from Henning). The Henning is more streamlined to the grip of the 9c than this extension, but the Henning requires a slight modification to the frame tool to fit the 9c. The Henning has an awkward set screw, and I butchered my entire extension trying to remove it. This extension has a much easier to operate locking system that does not require any modification. The finish on my base pad was just OK, it had an area of odd red coloring where it buts up to the mag base. I blacked it out with a Sharpie. The base pad fit nicely to the mag, but you have to be careful the mag spring doesn't catch and roll over while sliding it into place or it won't load more than 10 rounds. I used a punch to help properly align the mag spring into the cup of the base pad on the second try. The open end of the spring snagged on the first try, and several of the bottom coils of the spring went in sideways. User error, no biggie. Once mounted to the mag and inserted into a 9c v1 or 9c 2.0, the bottom shoe of the base pad extends well past the front of the grip. As most M&P owners know, the full size and compact models have different grip circ...
