Robert's Review of Samson SAS/22 Ruger 10/22 Takedown Picatinny Folding Rifle Stock

Let me break this down to explain why I am totally happy with the Samson SAS/22 Ruger 10/22 Takedown Chassis.
1. There was initially an unexpected delay with my order; however, Optics Planet jumped on it and the SAS-22 Chassis was at my doorstep VERY quickly after a short pleasantly handled phone call to OP service dept. Hats off to the helpful service agent who took my call and sped up the order and delivery. In fact, I have always been totally happy whenever I call OP with a question or inquiry about an order
2. The Samson SAS/22 Chassis is a solid, well-made all metal (except the rubberized pad on the adjustable butt and cheek rest). Nothing about the chassis feels or looks cheap. This is the system that a pro shooter would expect for competition equipment and builds a standard, common “blue collar” inexpensive but very reliable 10/22 into a best in class firearm to put on display at the range, where you’ll certainly get the “what the Heck is that”, and also to put up on the wall in front, next to firearms that cost MUCH MUCH more. The chassis breaks down easily like all 10/22 takedowns, and the stock folds neatly so the whole thing fits into a smaller pcc case. The Ruger 10/22 receiver slipped into the folding portion of the Samson SAS 22 Chassis with a snug fit that took about 2 minutes to switch into (from another very cool chassis… my Magpul Takedown Backpacker Chassis)
3. The handguard fit however was VERY tight and required a fairly substantial amount of elbow grease with gentle but repeated slugs with a rubber mallet to get the barrel and takedown end to finally occupy all the space in all aluminum solid handguard but I actually think this is preferable because the completely assembled rifle is solid with absolutely zero small movements that are common with most Ruger 10/22 takedown setups just as most Ruger PC Carbine setups I’ve tested. (HINT to Samson - make one for the PC Carbine and I’ll be first in line to purchase!)
4. The chassis looks just totally awesome with the 16’ ported/threaded .92” bull barrel in all in Black. I have a longer Monstrum Picatinny rail that extends beyond the takedown and this works quite well with the Samson SAS/22 chassis. The additional picatinny rail further down the handguard offers me a perfect place for a Surefire light w/ pic adapter and the MLOK slots provided me with almost too many possible configurations to choose from to attach many switch options; I attached a Unity Axon SL switch and the Axon SL MLOK Mounting kit for the light. Theres more than enough MLOK slots to find a personalized placement along with Magpul MLOK WCK (Wire Control Kit).

I don’t usually take this much time to write a review for all the great things I buy from Optics Planet, but this one … this Samson SAS/22 chassis it deserves 110% attention to make this strong recommendation. And anyone with a Ruger 10/22 Takedown Rifle, YES, even that old dusty one in the corner of the Gun Safe like mine used to be- the rifle that rarely makes it out to the range because its just a boring 22LR rifle that everyone owns, which seemed to mostly get ignored because of those other PCCs and newer pistols seemed to get my attention and get taken to the range instead. WOW THATS NOT the case with my Ruger 10/22 T/D anymore. This Samson SAS/22 chassis turned my Ruger 10/22 Takedown (the most common rifle in the world) into the one of the coolest, if not THE coolest AND most dependable rifles I own. YES I am sure that Samson has created an amazing upgrade for my Ruger 10/22 and the SAS/22 Chassis is one of the best purchases, even at ~$500, that I have ever made on Optics Planet. 5 1/2 Stars is more appropriate … Just Do It… you’ll be happy you did.
