With portable AM/FM radios being harder to find these days, I found these to suit our needs nicely. When the power goes out, it sure is nice to have a radio around, and yes it must run off of batteries, not a cheap Chinese rechargeable battery either. It was very very hard to find a good portable radio but after a long search I figured this radio would be best, and it was. They are waterproof or at least water resistant as this is a shower radio! That feature alone is very nice but this also has a digital display instead of the dreaded rotating knob where you hear the static of every station while searching for the next one, this digital radio eliminates that issue. It has presets which are a must for a portable radio if you ask me. The reception signal has been good quality, but as with all AM/FM radios things can interfere with the signal by just being in the near vicinity. The only thing I think is a little strange is that these radios have a flexible wire antenna rather than the traditional retractable type we are all used to. It does what it's supposed to and I have had 0 issues with them for what they are. These have a flashlight on the side which is a nice and also have a handle for carrying it around or hanging it up. Best I could find for the money. OpticsPlanet had the best price and great service as usual. Excellent work all around!
