Not well designed as a rescue knife - Schrade Viper 3rd Generation 3.5in Automatic Folding Knives

I have always considered Scharade to be a quality company, but they really missed the mark with this one. I rated it one star for several reasons.
The placement of the thumb activator button on the rear portion of the knife, when closed, makes opening the knife safely very difficult. In order to use one hand, you basically have to grip the knife with two fingers, making a good positive grip impossible. You can use two hands, but that defeats the purpose of having a rescue knife.

The construction is very light. I have a mini, double-action OTF knife made by some off-brand that is heavier and feels better constructed.

If you just want to have a knife you can impress your friends with that is fast opening, this one will work for you however, if you want a working knife, one that you will be able to effectively use in the field, I would recommend something else.
