I think it would be good for checking outlets, fuse boxes, fixtures, heat loss, etc, but I got it hoping it would be good for helping with deer recovery. For that and anything similar, it's useless unless you're on top of it, it's in snow, and it's dark. Deer are just too well insulated I guess. I know they make an adapter to use these for hunting, but I can't see that working at all beyond a cut open field in winter with a very cold ground/background.
