Most Helpful Positive Review Best Pilot Suglasses available!!!
I am a professional pilot and this is my fourth pair of Serengeti sunglasses with the Drivers Gradietnt lenses. I use these sunglasses on bright sunny days and very cloudy (low ceiling) days. They are great at cutting through the glare without darkening the cockpit. Looking down at switches, you don...

Most Helpful Negative Review Great lenses but broke
I love Serengeti sunglasses, and has multiple pairs. But like other users of the velocity, I have had the experience of the glass getting pieces chopped off near the hinges. It is too close a fit. Get some Serengeti Large or Medium aviator instead. This model is sub-perfect. Pros: I love Serengeti,...

Velocity Gunmetal glasses

by cabin, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on September 13, 2017
This is my second pair, which I bought in case I break or lose my current pair. I have the Velocity Gunmetal frames with polarized gray/green lenses. These are great for driving, and all outdoor activity. They are lightweight, durable, and compact. The style fits my face very well, and has the slight wrap around that blocks peripheral light.

The only downside, and this are very minor, is that the polarized lenses on these non-gradient sunglasses somewhat darkens the view of electronic gauges while driving. I have a pair of the Velocity amber/brown gradient sunglasses too, and those are designed to make reading gauges easier, but frankly I prefer these. I have mixed feelings about the case. I like that it is fairly solid and includes a cleaning cloth, but feel it is just a little too big. I found a smaller case at my local optician that fits these glasses like a glove, and thats what I use for traveling.

The main downside, that is not so minor, is the price. I bought my first pair several years ago at WalMart of all places, and thought I was paying a premium at $100. For whatever reason, the titanium framed Gunmetal polarized version of the Velocity glasses are significantly higher than the other versions. Don't really know why.

Love the espresso velocity polarized drivers lens

by Inez, from WA, United States Written on July 20, 2017
The wrap around lens is very helpful. My husband kept putting his on me but I need the adjustable nose pads and his were heavy. Serengeti's wire frames are so light weight. The glass doesn't feel heavy at all with wire frames. And they make the lightest and sturdiest glass possible. I finally broke my old Serengeti sunglasses in the hinge of our recliner. So I tried these wrap arounds. I love not being distracted by light from the side window while driving. They would have been perfect if I could have got the sedona colored lens, but I will try the espresso polarized. So far they seem to be working well and may turn into my favorite Serengeti sunglasses. They also look good on me.
Pros:
  • blocks light from side window
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • bright reflective conditions

Serengeti Velocity Sunglasses

by MJH, Verified Owner from NE, United States Written on September 19, 2016
Fantastic is all I can say. As a pilot, I am very concerned with being able to see all the LCD units in an airplane. These glasses do not disappoint in any aspect. The gradient is also great because it allows for the higher darkening on the top half while still being able to see displays and other instruments. Highly recommend for pilots as well as drivers.

Mister Bas

I love this pair of sunglasses, the color is beautiful and I bought this one on advise of my son, he is a commercial captain with KLM and he said me this is the best sunglasses you ever can buy, so I did it and now I am very happy.
I will certainly advise this too others as well.

You asked at the same time to review the Honeywell Howard Leight Shooting Sports Hat DT600. I am very sorry but I did not buy it. I worked very many years for Honeywell at the European Headquarters in Brussels and I travelled all over Europe and South Africa as a Sales MANAGER.
So I am sorry, I cannot give you a review.
Best regards,
Bastiaan van Schelt

Serengeti Velocity Sunglasses

by Alexander, from South Australia, Australia Written on June 27, 2016
It's winter here and have not had the opportunity to use these glasses yet. But I've tried them on and they look sen-sational. Can't wait to test them in full light. Hopefully when the clouds and the rain clears here. I'm wrapped with the delivery from the US to Australia. It took far longer to get from Sydney to Adelaide - work that out. Australia snail mail and customs I guess. Buy these, they look a million dollars.
Pros:
  • great looks
  • Glass lenses
  • Lightwieght
  • Quality fit and finish
  • Nice amber tint
  • Priced much better than in Australia
Cons:
  • Don't know any
Best Used for:
  • general use
  • driving, beach, boat

Pros:
  • Style
  • Comfortable fit
  • Lens quality
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • All around wear.

Stylish,functional and durable

by Grow man, from OH, United States Written on May 17, 2016
The Serengheti Velocity remain my #1 pick for stylish protection and comfort while on the job flying aircraft. The gradient lenses work well in providing optimal viewing under a variety of lighting conditions. Only trouble I've ever had is the occasional frame screw the falls out resulting in the lense falling to the floor-one I managed to save, the other cracked and I had to purchase another pair.

Awesome sunglasses

by TonyL, Verified Owner from Dubai, United Arab Emirates Written on December 3, 2015
I've been wearing Serengeti sunglasses for 25 years and, in terms of eyewear they're very hard to beat. I have polaroid pairs of the Velocity framed ones for general use, and at work wear I can't use polaroid lens (I'm an airline pilot) I wear the 'Drivers Gradient' ones in the same Velocity frame.
Pros:
  • Optical clarity, fit, lightness, all in a robust titanium frame.
Cons:
  • None that I can think of.
Best Used for:
  • Any time it's sunny and even when it's not.
