Non-Dorky Clip Ons

by Legacy Reviewer, from OH, United States Written on December 10, 2010
As a kid there was one thing I remember vowing: I would never have the dorky, over-sized flip-up sunglasses that my father wore. :-)

To that end I used to have my previous prescription glasses dyed to use as sunglasses when I got newer ones. That's impractical when your prescription changes, and lugging two sets of glasses around is inconvenient.

So I've bitten the bullet and hunted down clip-on sunglasses from the manufacturer of my glasses frames to fit.

Past examples of these have had fittings that range from adequate to ludicrous, being so floppy that they were in danger of flying away when on the Honda.

These, however, have good clips and the bridge piece is magnetized, so they cling to the glasses frame like they mean it. Since they're not so dependent on the clips to retain their place on frames they don't have to be so "springy" and are easier to put on and remove one-handed and are less likely to get bent out of shape and become loose after being placed in a shirt or jacket pocket.

On top of that, the lenses themselves do a fine job of reducing glare and generally just being good sunglasses.
Pros: Fits the specified Sferoflex frames perfectly, magnetized for a more secure clip
Cons: Pricey, took a long time to arrive
