I received a Polymer 80 frame as a Christmas gift and shortly thereafter set upon building my own little masterpiece. The frame I received was FDE so I tried to find a slide that would look great with that receiver. I chose the Shadow Systems FDE slide for the finish and the cut away or skeletonized look and while I don't have plans to mount a RMR red dot anytime soon I liked the fact it came with the cutout on it and an attractive cover plate as well. I wanted to do a full build so I bought the stripped slide and parts kit and it couldn't have been any easier to complete on my own. I then added an extended length Storm Lake 2 port barrel in stainless steel, a black/red upgraded trigger and black mag well. The end result was a great looking firearm in FDE with black accents and a polished stainless steel extended barrel visible through the cutouts and extending about an inch past the end of the slide. I couldn't be more pleased with the look and function of my Shadow Systems slide.

I have been working on a Polymer 80 build using a Glock 17 full size slide with a Glock 19 compact frame. I wanted this to have a custom look so I tried to build it with more of an emphasis on what I thought looked sharp rather than saving money by buying the cheapest stock parts. The frame I'm using is FDE and the Shadow Systems slide really compliments the frame. I currently don't plan to use the RMR option on this slide but I like the fact that I can add one without having to buy another slide. I also like the cutout on the sides of the slide which really accents the SS Storm Lake ported barrel that I chose that extends past the end of the slide by about an inch. I ordered this as a stripped slide and purchased the slide parts separately, their installation was a breeze, everything fit perfectly and took less than 10 minutes to install. I tested the completed slide on a stock Glock 17L that I own and it functioned perfectly. I'm looking forward to finishing this build and I think the Shadow Systems slide will enhance the look of the finished firearm considerably.

I had issues with my Brownells slide and the shadow systems barrel I had purchased for my G17 build. They ran fine together for 2-300 rounds. Then they started binding up, feeding the next round in, but the slide would fail to slide forward all the way without slapping it. So i purchased the shadow systems slide, hoping the two would function together better. It’s a super classy, clean, well made slide, and the rmr cover plate is of really nice quality. The pistol was a hit rough for 30-40 rounds- then it got good- real good!! Now the pistol shoots flawless and I run it hard. It’s real nice looking and the DLF (diamond like finish) is real tough. I’d buy it again anyday. Great slide at a wonderful price.
