Most Helpful Positive Review Fancy Grip
Put a little class in your firearm with some wood furniture! The grip is solid aluminum with Brazilian Cherry wood. This is a pretty solid lumber that is hard and lightweight. On the grip, the wood is secured with hex screws and are removable, in case you wanna paint your firearm. The grip appears t...

Miss milled, grip screw will not reach the screw hole in the receiver. Was really looking forward to this wood grip, Now I'm going to have to rig it on if possible. For the price this grip should install easily.

The pictures don't do it justice. The flash takes away from the color.

This looks much richer in person and the fit and finish is flawless. Unlike others I had no problems installing the grip with the provided screw. Got an awesome deal too with my OP bucks and coupon codes.

Great Grip

by Dave, Verified Owner from ME, United States Written on February 14, 2026
This grip feels and looks great. The grip being solid aluminum and the wood accents really set it apart from the norm.
Pros:
  • EASY INSTALL
  • great design
  • Unique look
Cons:
  • Can't use a lock washer with the grip screw. Hole in the grip is only large enough for the grip screw.

wood you ?

by Andrew, Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on January 8, 2026
ordered two of these sets not really knowing what to expect. they were delayed a bit in shipping but worth the wait. they are acually better in real life than in the add,and fit and finish is awesom. changes the look of my AR's from ho-hum to a really expensive firearm. especally if you like to display your weapons.

A Great Aluminum Grip Option

by NAVHAZ, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on January 3, 2026
I purchased this to complement a Remington 870 build where I focused on using no polymer.

I, especially, appreciate the quality machining and solid bottom of the grip (only has a hole for the mounting bolt) because it looks more finished. That said, it adds to the weight.

The grip easily mounts to my Chisel Machining buttstock but a little fitting is required to get the lines/curves to match-up. As this project will go to Cerakote following completion, that was not a big deal for me.

The supplied wood grips and panels were fine-enough, but I am working with a grip maker to fabricate a book-matched set of scales/grips as well as mlok cover panels for the unused portions of the Strike VOA forend.

This grip offers a solid feel and degree of customization options that I couldn’t get with any other product. I am thankful Optics Planet had it for a good price.

4-stars because of fitting work needed for my setup and unmatched wood grain/appearance.

poor finish on wood.

by bryjayhat, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on September 26, 2024
I was excited about installing this grip on my rifle, however, the screw that came with it was too short and would not thread into the receiver. Subtract a star. I also noticed the finish on the wood panels was really done poorly. It was as if someone layed the panels on sawdust and used a spray can finish and threw them in a pile to dry. Subtract another star. Other than that, the design of the grips was very cool and it softened the overall look of my rifle.

Nice but damaged

by PM, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on September 3, 2024
Not sure what's going on with Sharps Bros. I purchased this and when it came it had a small scratch through the coating exposing the bare metal. I have also ordered a lower unit from sharps bros and the same thing, a scratch on it down to bare metal. Disappointing when you spend you money on stuff that comes damaged.
Pros:
  • Look and feel are great
Cons:
  • Quality Control

I like but had problem

by Shawn Moore, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on April 25, 2024
I love the grip and rail covers but the bolt for the grip they send is not long enough to thread into lower. Cost me another $10 to get a longer bolt. Slightly annoying but not enough that I will send it back.
Pros:
  • feels good
Cons:
  • Bad hardware
Best Used for:
  • guns

Me Likey alot

by Tone, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on April 12, 2024
This is a beautiful grip. The pictures do not do it justice, just like the others say the grip wood and the hand guard panel are different shades but I bought this for the grip and it doesn’t disappoint as far as aesthetics go. The only downside side that didn’t get this 5 stars is the grip, the metal should be textured some way because it’s slick so if you got wet hands from sweat or whatever it may cause you problems. Overall I’m super happy it brought my .308 build the touch I wanted
Pros:
  • Aestheticly pleasing
Cons:
  • grip texture could been better

Brazilian Cherry Grip / Hand Guard Rails

by Justin in York, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on January 12, 2024
I bought the Heatseeker Chassis from Sharps for my Ruger American Ranch in 300 blackout. Love it - so much that I'm gathering funds to get one for the 556 Ranch I have. This review is for the grip and handguards though. They are all very well made too, the only issue I had was that one side of the grip inserts was very much a different color then the other side of the grip. The outlier was more of a dark walnut, while the other side of the grip and handguard panels were a rich, red, deep cherry. All beautiful pieces, just one was a different color. I'm waiting on a stock for the chassis before I put it all together but I will likely only use the grip since the color variation is not as noticable without the handguard rails installed. I will absolutely be putting the rails on something else or maybe staining the one grip insert so everything matches up to my personal taste. All that being said I couldn't ding the review too hard because I reached out to Sharps Brothers directly thinking it was a manufacturing issue and had a reply from John Sharps himself within the hour. He mentioned that variation in grain and color is to be expected. Grain I am fine with but the color was just too 'off' for me personally to go on what otherwise is a work of art. What I do appreciate is the customer service and attention. It's a quality US company that I am proud to support.
Pros:
  • Excellent craftsmanship and outstanding customer service.
Cons:
  • Color variation just too far off for me to use the pieces in concert.
Best Used for:
  • Classing up your chassis or to add tasteful fudd to your AR platform
