Most Helpful Positive Review A sniper's scope
Look simply put this is the greatest scope you will never hear of! I have served with 5th Special Forces and also 1st SFOD. I have used a lot of different brands but I can tell you from experience combat and hunting experience! It works flawlessly. I can take a normal hunter and within a hour or 2 m...

Most Helpful Negative Review decent long range optic, hope you dont need parallax!
I've owned many different long range scopes, wanted this one for a .308 ar10. Its a good optic for the price. However, the parallax knob is EXTEREMELY tight. Almost tight enough that i can't turn it. My wife can't at all, you need a strong grip or a pair of pliers!

Parralex and illumination dials

by Andy, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on February 16, 2025
Adjustment to both dials are some what difficult. Para dial is located behind illum dial making it difficult and illum dial is very tight. Haven't shot it yet. Pretty rough weather in central Pa.
Pros:
  • good magnification
Cons:
  • Tight adjustments
Best Used for:
  • Shooting and hunting

Came with no instructions or users manual.

by Dennis, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on January 22, 2025
Came with no instructions or users manual or warranty card. OP and Shepherd both have the pass the buck attitude. I was told I can print user manual online. I spend good money for this scope and expect the manual and warranty card in the box. I was a distributor for Sheperd for many years and they always came with manual and warranty card.

Great Scope for the Money

by FroggyBoB, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on April 11, 2024
This is the second Shepherd Scope I've had the opportunity to use. I've previously used their DRS line scopes and although it's a cool feature, I don't think its worth the extra $500 just to get a true 1 shot zero. Aside from that, this scope has the necessary features of the DRS for half the price with the addition of an illuminated reticle. The construction of this scope is robust and looks to be of quality build. The glass is also good, I've tested it in low light conditions and I can see very clearly. The only thing I will warm about is to not over torque the scope mounts. Shepherd recommends following the ring manufacturers specs in their owner's manual however doing so bound up the parallax adjustment knob (at 18in-lbs). After speaking with Shepherd directly, they recommend not going over 15in-lbs. This should probably be specified in their manual to prevent issues.
Pros:
  • cost
  • Sturdy
  • glass
  • illuminated
Cons:
  • Torque settings are too high
Best Used for:
  • Shooting & hunting
