The manual says 1-3 years with normal use.....not even close. I use the rubber cover (to keep it in low light, plus its in a dark safe) anytime in not shooting and I've now gone through 3 battery's in less than 9 months. The battery is underneath, so you have to remove the optic every time and then rezero it, over and over. The super small allen head screws you have to get right on the border of stripping to get the sight to stay tight when shooting (plus lok tight...). Its a nightmare compared to the US made stuff. European trash, honesty. The window is large and nice for new shooters, but not worth the dismal battery life. I'll never buy a Shield sight again. Other than this is have Aimpoints, acro p2s, t2s,, MROs, rmr, rmr hd, holosuns, eps carrys, 507s, ect. Sig m17 optics. I have basically everything and this is the absolute worst optic I own, period.
Cons:
- Battery Life
- comes loose easily.
- Battery location is under the sight
- small allen screws
- horrible battery life, worst ever
Best Used for:
- people that like to change batteries
- those who like to rezero optics constantly.
- light range use?

I was looking for something with a larger window, and this is my 2nd shield red dot. lightweight and great quality, along with Optics Plane's great service....Despite my astigmatism , the dot is clear and crisp
Pros:
- clear glass
- Crisp Red Dot
- Lightweght
Best Used for:
- Target shooting
- matches
