These jaws are lightweight and sturdy, but I went out of my way to buy this pair because the magnets shown on the backs in the photos are like 1" in diameter. In my hunt for a good pair of these magnetic type soft jaws, most of the reviews on Amazon and other places for similar products all complained about the holding power of the magnets; they were in most cases thought to be too small. So, again, I purchased these looking at the photos and when I received them, they had magnets of half the diameter (much smaller surface area). Consequently, the jaws do stick to my vice jaws, but the force is quite weak and I can move them or remove them with nearly no effort.

If the purpose of the jaws is to hold the object, such as a pistol slide, in place, then it seems to do a decent job of that because of the force of the vice and the resistance of the slide hold these in place. Again, lightweight and seem to be strong, but time will tell. I think they are good enough to keep, but I would be happier if they would at least provide the magnets they show in the pictures.
