Quick access and security
The safe shipped quickly and installed even quicker! Find a stud, measure and drill three holes and it screws right up to the wall. It holds my AR securely (loaded) and a spare mag and flashlight on the shelf. Combo entry is fast and access to your weapon is reassuringly quick. It now lives discreet...

A Letdown, Kind Of
So, after reading hundreds of reviews I decided to pull the trigger on the AR Solo-Vault to stick in my closet. I was pretty excited for the safe to arrive! However, I was quickly letdown, and here is why:
1) The quality control - I'm assuming based on my one purchase - is quite terrible. Upon open...

Shot Lock Gun Storage
I have 2 for ARs, 1 for shotgun & 2 for pistols. Recommend the mechanical ones for cold weather application and removing the possible battery failure. Top notch products
Pros:
- Have to have 4 digit combo on most models
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Vehicle deployment/ Home Defense
Would recommend: Yes
Disappointed.
I have used Shotlock for shotgun storage, trusted for home defense use for years and have been very satisfied. Thought the AR200M for my rifle in the same role would be a no brainer. Setup went fine but I was shocked to find after several cycles the code I set stopped working consistently. It would open every 4th try or so, pressing either firmly or gently did not matter. Then my gun was stuck after I shut it again. I used the provided override key and although it turned in the lock the door still did not open. After several minutes of fiddling and retrying it finally opened. My rifle will not go back into this model safe. It still only worked a portion of the time cycling without cargo and I checked the button mechanism to ensure all keys were set. So disappointed, again, because I had such a great experience with the older shotgun safe. Sent in for return.
Pros:
- Great concept
Cons:
- Defective product

Fast access and secure, safe storage
This is my second ShotLock. I’ve been using the shotgun version for several years. The AR version has a slightly different lock, but operates just the same. I have a multi-level house and now I have home-defense weapons secured in closets on two floors. With a little practice, it takes me 5 seconds to open the closet door, open the ShotLock and put the gun in my hands. I rest easy knowing that my kids and visitors can’t access those guns.
Pros:
- Compact, rugged, no batteries
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Homeowners and small businesses

Convenient and solid
Shot Lock products are impressive. It sure creates a convenient way to keep a rifle handy. I wouldn’t necessarily trust this as a safe, but for keeping a rifle more easily available it works great. I like the mechanical lock feature, as I don’t necessarily trust electronica locking mechanisms.

Great price and super fast shipping
Purchased an open box at a big cost savings (but you could not tell, it was packaged the same as factory). Of all the available vaults for my carbine, this model was the only one it would fit, (with modifications, I knew that when bought). This vault works easy, push buttons work every time. Easy to change the factory combo numbers. Fast access if necessary with this vault. I bolted the vault in the vertical firearm position, enough room inside for several of the 20 rounds mags my firearm uses besides the one in the mag well. Strong steel walls and enough padding to prevent your firearm from scratches. It adjusted well for my carbine, but I needed to provide additional access for my carbine's unique stock so I can't speak how it would fit a different firearm. I know I voided the warranty, but I would not consider ever needing a replacement, this one should last my lifetime.
Pros:
- Solid case
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- safe keeping

Secure from young children
This gives quick access to my rifle while keeping it secure from my kids. I don't think it was necessarily designed to prevent theft because it has a keyed backup mechanism which could be picked. And with enough time and enthusiasm, a thief will get away with your stuff. Given that, I have a cheap PSA rifle thats good enough for home defense but wont leave me in tears if it was stolen. Another reviewer stated he fired his rifle mounted in the locker. You can barely see the trigger with the rifle mounted and locked but you would have to jam a screw driver or something like that to pull it. So I don't store the rifle with a round in the chamber but simply leave a full mag inserted. Seems to be the only mechanical combination rifle mount available. I didn't want to risk problems with the electromechanical options out there. Having this is better than leaving your home, defense rifle locked in a safe or worse hiding in a closet with kids in the house. If kids werent a factor, I'd probly leave the rifle loaded by the bed, ready to go. Overall I'm happy with it.

Looks nice, does not work with most optics
Looks like. It will not work with full size red dots like the Aimpoint PRO, Aimpoint M4, or EOTech 512. Why? Because these sights all hang over the handguard to some degree.
I think this safe would work fine on a rifle with a small sight like an Aimpoint T2 or Trijicon MRO.

Pros:
- Excellent quality and ease of use.
Cons:
- Could be a couple inches deeper for rifles with side chargers . .
