The2AinCA's Review of SIG SAUER P226 RXP Slide Assemblies

The installation took two minutes. Remove the old slide, move the firing pin and spring to the new slide, install the new slide. There is a tool to install the battery, press and hold either the up or down arrow for two seconds to activate, and you're done. Out of the box, the Red Dot is zeroed and co-witnessed with the iron sights. I highly recommend this product for few reasons:

1) There is no learning curve, just get the red dot on target. With only iron sights, there is a learning curve to focus on the front sight while aligning it with rear sight and the target.
2) Keeping both eyes open is easier with the red dot. With only iron sights, there is also a learning curve to keep both eyes open.
3) Target acquisition is easier since the target and red dot are in the same focal plane. With only iron sights, it takes a moment longer to focus between your target and the front sight.
4) Installing a red dot on a factory P226 slide required the anxiety inducing process of finding a gunsmith, mailing them the slide and a potentially compatible red dot, and hoping that nothing goes wrong. This simplifies the entire process.

I highly recommend this product but I do not want to become dependent on it since it is an electronic that might fail. Iron sights never fail so I use the red dot to help perfect my form of aligning my iron sights with open eyes open and focusing between the target and the front sight.
