Tighter shot groupings and faster follow-up shots

Written on Apr 27, 2023

With the Piranha grips I bought, my shot groupings are roughly half-an-inch tighter at 10 yards because there is less recoil slippage and my follow-ups shots are faster because I don’t need to readjust my grip. I don’t know any other part under $100 that can do that.

Hogue grip patterns in order of least to most aggressive are: Smooth (wooden-baseball-bat-texture), Checkered (sandpaper texture, stock grips on P226 Legion), Piranha (sanded coral texture, stock grips on P226 Zev), and Chainmail (tree bark texture). The Checkered grips I bought chafe in CCW and slip with sweaty hands but I don’t have these problems with the Piranha grips. I also bought magwell grips but they are not ideal for CCW and limited round magazines. I found what works best for me so I don’t plan on buying the Smooth grips or the Chainmail grips and I avoid metal grips because they get too hot in the sun.

I recommend buying different grips to see what works best for you and to start with the Piranha grips.

Not working

Written on Apr 07, 2023

I used Federal American Eagle 124gr ammo testing 20 rounds for each of the 6 settings. It stovepiped every 2-3 rounds across all 6 settings. I switched to stock the components and the remaining 180 rounds cycled flawlessly. What am I missing? I am using a stock barrel and slide. Let me know if it worked for you and which combination you used.

Increases accuracy

Written on Oct 24, 2021

There is a soft rail that keeps my bipod in place which increases accuracy, no other shooting mat can do that. The memory foam is just the right firmness. Not too hard where you slip around, not too soft where you feel bumps on the ground. It folds nicely and you don't need to worry about it curling when in use. It is also perfect for picnics and camping trips. The craftsmanship and quality is very high. I highly recommend it.

California Compliant

Written on Sep 25, 2021

Installation was easy, it was just a matter of swapping the base plate and slightly stretching the factory spring. I dry-fired a full clip with snap caps without any issues and it worked flawlessly at the range. Also, the additional length of the magazine allowed a full grip which improved my accuracy.

Perfect for P226 Mk25

Written on Jun 22, 2021

The installation took two minutes. Remove the old slide, move the firing pin and spring to the new slide, install the new slide. There is a tool to install the battery, press and hold either the up or down arrow for two seconds to activate, and you're done. Out of the box, the Red Dot is zeroed and co-witnessed with the iron sights. I highly recommend this product for few reasons:

1) There is no learning curve, just get the red dot on target. With only iron sights, there is a learning curve to focus on the front sight while aligning it with rear sight and the target.
2) Keeping both eyes open is easier with the red dot. With only iron sights, there is also a learning curve to keep both eyes open.
3) Target acquisition is easier since the target and red dot are in the same focal plane. With only iron sights, it takes a moment longer to focus between your target and the front sight.
4) Installing a red dot on a factory P226 slide required the anxiety inducing process of finding a gunsmith, mailing them the slide and a potentially compatible red dot, and hoping that nothing goes wrong. This simplifies the entire process.

I highly recommend this product but I do not want to become dependent on it since it is an electronic that might fail. Iron sights never fail so I use the red dot to help perfect my form of aligning my iron sights with open eyes open and focusing between the target and the front sight.

Game changer for P226 Mk25

Written on May 26, 2021

When it comes to holsters, there was always a trade-off: 1) limit the accessories on my handgun so it will fit a holster or 2) fully accessorize my handgun knowing that it will not fit any holster. The SureFire holster is a game changer that eliminates this tradeoff.

This SureFire holster is a match-made-in-heaven with my: P226 Mk25, Masterfire X400UH, and slide mounted red dot. There is also room for a suppressor and an extended magazine. It gets better, the SureFire holster works with my Safariland QLS 19/22 setup and there are a few advantages of the SureFire holster over my Safariland ALS holster.

1. It is worth mentioning again that I can fully accessorize.
2. There’s a safety switch. There’s a thumb button to release the clamp on the Masterfire light/laser as part of the draw, however, there is a switch switch that will lock the thumb button.
3. I can set the Masterfire light/laser to turn on when I draw so I don’t need to manually activate or use pressure switches.
4. A deliberate draw is smooth. If I am not deliberate then I notice a little tug that turns on the light/laser.
5. The draw is easier, faster, and more natural. With a typical holster, I need to draw in a straight line until the muzzle clears the holster. With the SureFire holster, the draw is essentially pivoting and lifting the handgun off the holster that clamped on the Masterfire laser/light.
6. This holster will work with any handgun with a mounted MasterFire light/laser. I can’t speak for othe
