Jesse Sellers's Review of SIG SAUER Romeo MSR 1x20 mm 2 MOA Dot Reflex Red Dot Sight

I’ve had several of these MSR red dots. Never had an issue with any of them. Is it the be all do all dot? No! Is it a rugged dependable dot? Yes! I own more expensive dots with better features, but they cost double to quadruple of the MSR. I particularly buy these because I have a lot of rifles and I can’t go putting a super expensive optic on them all. Battery life isn’t bad, about half of what a Romeo5 would run, and there’s no MOTAC, but then that’s why you would by a Romeo5 instead. If you want a nice rugged red dot for the range get this dot. If you want one more suited for home defense, I’d say get the Romeo5. I use these mostly on AK rifles that I’ve built. Get the cheap bushnell low profile T-1 mount and it works well on an AK if you don’t have the RS regulate T-1 rail. Also I have bad astigmatism and this dot doesn’t starburst to bad around settings 5 and 6.
Pros:
  • Rugged construction. Price is nice especially if you wait towards Christmas you can find them usually on sale for $70.
Cons:
  • Haven't found one yet
  • it is a sub $100 optic. If you have any cons with it try not being such a cheapskate in the future.
Best Used for:
  • Range shooting and general plinking. Home defense
