omgnqqb's Review of SIG SAUER ROMEO5 1x20mm 2 MOA Red Dot Sight

I've had iron sights for the last couple years and have been doing just fine with them. Finally wanted to upgrade to a red dot, but did not want to break the bank. After extensive research and you tube videos I chose this one. At first glance, opening up the box you can tell the quality is amazing considering the price point you pay compared to the higher end red dots. The red dot is crisp and clear, fully adjustable (10 brightness settings) and is night vision compatible (last 2 brightness settings). The finish is awesome, and the buttons are very easy to use. But most of all it has unlimited eye relief and can shoot your target with both eyes open if you wish.

I have it set up with the 1/3 co-witness mount (also comes with low mount which is nice in case you don't have iron sights). I know to each their own, but I read a lot of people like having a AAA or C123 battery in their red/green dot optic, but if you're trying to save overall weight of your firearm, common sense would tell you that a smaller battery would be the best choice. The 2032 that you need for this red dot optic is obviously very small and keeps the weight down. It is also not very hard to find... I just bought two from the dollar store (even though they provide you an energizer brand one). I like them because they are small enough to put inside my pistol grip compartment. Would I need extra? Probably not, it is rated for 40,000 hrs. Would it last that long? Probably not. Better to be safe than sorry I guess. Maybe I stash extra because people have ACTUALLY complained about "what if" their red dot dies. Oh I guess that is why I have backup iron sights too. Also has MOTAC which is a nice feature you can enable which turns your red dot on and off when it detects movement or non movement. Just disable this feature when you plan on going on a long drive because it is highly sensitive.

I would highly suggest this red dot optic as your first red dot or second or third. I would like to try other brands that do not break the bank yet still deliver excellent quality like holosun, vortex and primary arms. But so far I am overly satisfied with my decision on this one. I originally wanted an Eotech or Aimpoint, but the price alone could not be justified. Maybe if you have the funds or have been shooting for years and would utilize those brands to its full potential/capabilities. I however do not consider myself a pro or in constant combat, so I want to start from the ground up instead. You either buy a Ducati as your first bike or you treat yourself to one after so many years of riding/trying other lower end bikes first. To each their own.
